What is OXYFLOW ECP and how it works?

ECP / EECP is a clinically proven, safe, economical and effective outpatient treatment procedure. Here, the patient lays on a treatment table with pneumatic cuffs (like cuffs used in blood pressure apparatus) on their calves, thighs and buttocks. The contraction is timed according to the heart beat (cardiac cycle) and the blood is pumped only when the heart is relaxing after a contraction (diastole). During diastole blood is squeezed from lower extremities starting at calves, then thighs and then buttocks sequentially. This results in delivering high volume of blood into the coronary arteries. This is called inflation (augmentation). Then before the start of next cardiac cycle (systole), the cuffs deflate simultaneously thus helps in systolic unloading. This action results in reducing workload & afterload, which helps to circulate the blood back form heart to the other parts of the body.

In this way, numerous collateral vessels are created forming “multiple natural bypasses” between the vessels of the heart. Symptoms of chest pain and breathlessness may also be relieved. ECP improves hearts Ejection Fraction and exercise tolerance.
